Bobo-Dioulasso, meaning "home of the Bobo-Dioula", is Burkina's second largest city and capital of the Hauts-Bassins administrative region. It is ethnically and linguistically very diverse, due both to it being a trade town and during the twentieth century as a colonial administrative and military capital.
Bobo's best know landmark must be the Grande Mosquee, probably the largest Burkinabé example of Sudano-Sahelian architecture. It is stunning.
