Burkina Faso is one of the friendliest African countries I have ever visited. An ex-colony of France it is land-kocked, tucked between Niger to the east, Benin, Togo, Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire to the south, Mali to the west and north. I spent March 2017 travelling, mostly in the south and the west. Starting in the capital Ouagadougu, then heading south to Pô by bus. Here I bought a motorcycle to continue my journey west, heading along the southern border and on to Banfora, Bobo, up to Dedougou and eventually back to Ouaga.

Wherever possible I travelled on small roads, covering over 2,700 kilometres, the majority on dirt roads and small tracks, stopping on the way. The areas I travelled can be best describes as tropical savanna.

The galleries bellow are of shots I took during the trip and the incredible country that is Burkina Faso. Enjoy.

Anyone considering visiting Burkina Faso may wish to read my blog which gives general advice on motorcycling there, both legal and advisory.
